在這次與 J.D. 合作的作品裡，We Belong Together 是一首較為 R&B 典型的歌曲，混和了 Hip-hop 和慢板抒情歌曲的味道。這首為錯失的愛心碎的悲歌，背景音主要由大鼓節拍和不斷行進的點擊構成；
瑪麗亞的聲線穿梭進出簡單的編曲，再隨著歌詞裡情緒的起伏不同作詮釋。
很明顯的橋段有（Wait a minute This is too deep, too deep ）這一段裡停下快唸宛如口白般地嘆息，
以及（I'm feeling all out of my element I'm throwing things）這部份跟著混亂的心緒，節奏亂彈開來。
瑪麗亞沒兩口氣就吃下這裡整段歌詞相當高竿，最後鳴亮的高亢吼唱更具有橫越合聲的直擊迫力。
另外值得留意的有，裡面兩句提及其他歌曲的歌詞「If you think you're lonely now」「 I Only Think Of You」；
兩句的旋律跟原曲都一樣，天衣無縫地嵌入歌中，可說是取樣的高招。

我很喜歡這首收錄在Mariah Carey的THE EMANCIPATION OF MIMI裡的單曲,重重的節奏,有力的唱腔 我愛We belong together.
